Reel in Sea Bass, Swordfish & Flounder off Belmar

Ready for an action-packed day on the water? Our full-day private charter out of Belmar, NJ is your ticket to some of the best fishing the Jersey Shore has to offer. We're talking sea bass, swordfish, and flounder - the holy trinity of local catches. Our experienced crew knows these waters like the back of their hand, and they're itching to put you on the fish. So grab your buddies, pack a cooler, and let's hit the high seas for 8 hours of non-stop fishing fun.

What's the Deal?

Here's the scoop: We push off at the crack of dawn - 6 AM sharp. That early start means we beat the crowds and hit the prime fishing spots when the bite is hot. You've got the boat to yourself and up to 4 of your closest fishing pals. We provide all the gear, bait, and know-how. You just need to bring your A-game, some grub, and your favorite beverages (yep, beer's allowed, just don't go overboard). Oh, and don't forget that NJ fishing license - it's required before you step on board. Fair warning: this trip's weather-dependent. If Mother Nature throws us a curveball, we'll reschedule. Otherwise, your deposit's locked in, so choose your crew wisely!

Tactics on the Water

Once we're offshore, it's game on. We'll be using a mix of trolling and chumming to land the big ones. For you newbies, trolling means we're dragging baited lines behind the boat as we cruise. It's like a buffet line for the fish - they can't resist. Chumming? That's when we toss bits of bait overboard to create a feeding frenzy. It gets the fish all riled up and ready to bite. We've got all the gear you need, from rods and reels to the latest fish-finding tech. Your job is to be ready when that rod bends and the reel starts screaming. Trust me, there's nothing like the rush of battling a big sea bass or flounder in the open ocean.

Fish on the Menu

Black Sea Bass: These bad boys are the rockstars of the reef. They're aggressive feeders, which means non-stop action for you. We typically find them hanging around structure - wrecks, rocks, you name it. They might not be the biggest fish in the sea, but what they lack in size, they make up for in fight. And let me tell you, they're delicious. Best time to target them? Late spring through fall. Nothing beats the feeling of pulling up a cooler full of these tasty devils.

Summer Flounder (Fluke): Ah, the mighty fluke. These flatfish are the masters of camouflage, blending in with the sandy bottom. But we know all their tricks. They're ambush predators, so we'll be using specialized rigs to tempt them. The best part? They can get big - we're talking doormat size. Summer's prime time for fluking, and there's a special thrill in feeling that distinctive 'thump' when a big one takes the bait.

Striped Bass: The crown jewel of the Northeast, stripers are what fishing dreams are made of. These powerful fish can grow to monster sizes, and they put up one heck of a fight. We target them in the cooler months, spring and fall, when they're migrating along the coast. There's nothing quite like the rush of a big striper hitting your line - it's the kind of experience that turns casual anglers into lifelong fishing addicts.

Bluefish: Last but not least, let's talk blues. These toothy critters are the bullies of the sea - all attitude and non-stop energy. When a school of blues moves in, hold onto your rod because it's about to get wild. They hit hard and fight even harder. We find them throughout the warmer months, and they're a blast to catch on light tackle. Just watch those fingers when you're unhooking them - those teeth aren't for show!

Time to Get Hooked

Look, I could talk fish all day, but nothing beats experiencing it firsthand. This full-day trip is the real deal - it's your chance to get out there and tangle with some of the best game fish the Jersey Shore has to offer. Our crew's got the skills, the spots, and the passion to make sure you have an epic day on the water. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-timer, we've got you covered. So what are you waiting for? Grab your crew, book your spot, and get ready for a fishing adventure you'll be bragging about for years to come. The fish are calling, and trust me, you don't want to miss this bite. Let's make some memories and fill that cooler!

Learn more about the species

Black Sea Bass

Black sea bass are a blast to catch around Belmar. These bottom-dwellers typically run 1-3 pounds but can get up to 8. You'll find them near wrecks, reefs, and rocky areas in 60-180 feet of water. Late spring through fall is prime time, with bigger fish moving deeper as it warms up. Folks love targeting them for their tasty white meat and the fun, light-tackle action. They put up a good scrap for their size too. To get them biting, try squid strips or clam on a simple high-low rig. A hot local trick is to use small jigs tipped with Gulp! soft plastics - the sea bass can't resist 'em. Just remember to check the regs, as size and bag limits can change.

Black Sea Bass

Bluefish

Bluefish are aggressive predators that'll give you a serious fight. They usually run 15-20 inches but can get up to 40 pounds. Look for them in the surf, near inlets, or around structure offshore. They're migratory, so spring and fall are prime times as they move along the coast. Bluefish are fun to catch because they hit hard and put up a good battle. Their meat can be strong-tasting, but it's great smoked or grilled fresh. To land one, try casting metal lures or live bait like bunker chunks. Watch out for those sharp teeth when you're unhooking them! A local tip: if you see birds diving, there's a good chance bluefish are feeding below. Head that way and get ready for some fast action.

Bluefish

Striped Bass

Striped bass are the crown jewel of our local fishery. These powerful fish average 15-30 pounds but can top 70. You'll find them from the surf to offshore, often around structure or bait schools. Spring and fall are prime as they migrate along the coast. Anglers love stripers for their hard-fighting spirit and excellent eating. To catch one, try live eels or bunker chunks at night near jetties. Trolling wire line with umbrella rigs works well offshore. Here's a local secret: on calm mornings, look for birds working over bass blitzing on bait near the surface. Cast topwater plugs into the frenzy for explosive strikes. Just remember to check current regulations, as striper fishing is carefully managed.

Striped Bass

Summer Flounder

Summer flounder, or fluke, are a local favorite here in Belmar. These flatfish usually run 2-5 pounds but can top 20. You'll find them from the surf out to 300 feet, often near sandy or muddy bottoms. They're most active May through September when the water warms up. Anglers love targeting fluke for their delicious white meat and the challenge - they're masters of camouflage. To catch 'em, try drifting with live killifish or squid strips on a bucktail jig. Work it slowly along the bottom with little hops. Here's a local tip: when you feel a bite, don't set the hook right away. Give the fluke a few seconds to get the bait in its mouth before reeling.
